About Us
We provide short term support at home across Newark and the Bassetlaw area, working with older people and with younger adults. People usually come to us at the point where something has changed: a spell in hospital, a fall, an illness or a period when managing alone has become too much.
Our aim is to help somebody get back to doing things for themselves wherever that is possible. Where ordinary care does a task for a person, we try to help them do it again, which means working on the things that actually matter at home: getting out of bed and moving about safely, washing and dressing, preparing food and drink, managing medication and getting back out of the front door. Progress is often slow and rarely in a straight line, and the gains that count are frequently small ones.
That approach asks something of the person as well as of us, so we agree what we are working towards together and review it honestly. Where it becomes clear that longer term support is what is needed, we say so plainly rather than keep going.
Our staff are trained for the needs they are asked to meet and work alongside therapists, nurses and general practitioners. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall.
