About Helping Hands

We are Helping Hands Newark, and we provide care and support to people in their own homes in Newark and the surrounding parts of Nottinghamshire. Our visits run from a short call to help somebody start the day through to longer periods of support, planned around the person's day rather than our convenience. Much of our work is with older people who want to stay in the house they know, so we help with getting up and dressed, bathing, medication, cooking a proper meal, the shopping and the laundry, and getting out to appointments or into town. We support people living with dementia, where continuity of care worker matters more than anything else, so we keep the same familiar faces with the same households wherever the rota allows. We also support adults with learning disabilities and autistic adults, people living with mental ill health, people with physical disabilities, people living with sight or hearing loss, and some younger adults. Everything begins with a visit and a proper conversation at home. We agree what the calls are for and what matters most, write it down, and revisit it when circumstances change.
