From there we agree the visits and the tasks and set them out in plain language. They might cover help with washing and dressing, prompting and support with medication, preparing meals and drinks, moving safely around the home, laundry, shopping and getting to appointments. For some people the most valuable part of the week is simply that a familiar person comes, notices how they are and has time to talk properly. Dementia support is a substantial part of our work. That means arriving calmly, keeping to routines that make sense to the person, never rushing anybody, and noticing the small shifts that tell you something has changed. We agree timings and work hard to keep to them, and we aim to send the same familiar faces to each household. Plans are reviewed honestly when circumstances change.
