About Esk Moors Caring

Esk Moors Caring supports people at home in Whitby and the surrounding villages and moorland. Living in a rural area brings its own difficulties, and we know that getting older here can mean long distances, poor transport and a good deal of isolation. Our work is aimed squarely at keeping people living well in their own communities. For older people we help with washing and dressing, medication, meals and drinks, laundry, shopping and keeping the house comfortable. We also help people get out, to an appointment, to the shops or just for some air and a change of scene, and we make time for the conversation that goes with it. For people living with dementia we keep the same care workers visiting wherever we can, follow the routine the household already has and leave things where they belong. Familiarity matters more than anything we could write in a plan. We support people with a physical disability who need help to move safely and manage at home, and we support younger adults around their own commitments. Our care workers are local, trained for the people they visit, and they notice when something has changed because they know the household.
