About Fernbank Court
Fernbank Court provides care and support to people in their own homes in Selby and the surrounding part of North Yorkshire. We support older people, and our experience covers dementia, learning disabilities and autism, mental health needs, physical disabilities, and sight and hearing loss. Our purpose is to make staying at home workable. For some people that means a short call each morning to help with washing, dressing and medication. For others it means several visits a day, with meals, company, help around the house and support to get out and about. We assess at home, because the house itself tells you a great deal that no form will, and we agree the plan with the person rather than handing it over finished. Reliability is what families judge us on, and rightly. Arriving when we said, staying the time agreed, sending carers who already know the person, and ringing before anyone has to ring us. We keep our rounds local so that those are promises we can actually keep. With dementia we pay close attention to timing and familiarity, since the same help at an unexpected hour from an unfamiliar face can be much harder to accept. Our carers are trained for the needs they meet and supervised rather than left to manage alone. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall.
