About Us
UK Health Kits in the North East provides care and support to people in their own homes in Scarborough and the surrounding part of North Yorkshire. We work with older people, younger adults, people living with dementia, people with learning disabilities, autistic people and people with physical disabilities.
Most people come to us because something at home has become harder than it was, and they want help that makes staying there possible rather than a move nobody has chosen. We try to provide exactly that and no more, because doing things for somebody that they can still manage takes something away from them.
Everything starts with a visit and an unhurried conversation. What does the day look like now, what has become difficult, and what would the person rather keep doing for themselves. From that we agree who comes, when and what they do, with family or an advocate involved whenever the person wants them there.
Visits cover personal care, help with medication, meals and drinks, housework and laundry, shopping, getting to appointments, and company. For autistic people we give notice of change well in advance and pay attention to sensory needs. For those living with dementia we keep the same small team visiting and work at their pace.
This is a large rural area, so we build rotas around real distances rather than ones that look efficient on paper.
