About Us
Vale of York Intermediate Care supports people in their own homes in and around Malton, North Yorkshire. Much of our work is short term and purposeful, helping people regain confidence and independence after a hospital stay, a fall or an illness, so that they can carry on living at home.
We work with older people, adults living with dementia, people with a learning disability or autism, those managing a mental health condition, people with a physical disability, and people living with a visual or hearing impairment. We also support younger adults. Support can cover personal care, medication, meals, moving safely, household tasks and getting out again, planned alongside therapists and community health teams so that everyone is working towards the same goals.
We have to be open about our last inspection. The Care Quality Commission rated us requires improvement overall. We did not contest that. We took the findings seriously, put an improvement plan in place and are working through it, with closer oversight of the areas the inspectors raised. We would rather tell you this directly and let you judge the progress.
The core of what we do has not changed. We plan with the person rather than at them, we keep teams small so people see familiar faces, and we say clearly when a package is no longer right for what someone needs.
Please contact us if you would like to talk things through.
