About Fairway House

We provide support at home in Dereham and the surrounding part of Norfolk for adults with learning disabilities and autistic people, including younger adults. Our work is about helping people live in their own homes and run their own lives as far as they are able to. In practice that means the unglamorous things that make independence real: managing a tenancy, dealing with letters and bills, handling money, shopping and cooking, keeping appointments, getting to work, college or wherever a person wants to spend their time, and having staff alongside when something feels beyond facing alone. We start by asking what somebody wants their life to look like rather than arriving with a plan already written. Progress is often gradual, and the gains that count are frequently small ones that nobody outside the household would notice. Consistency of staff matters a great deal in this work, particularly for autistic people, so we keep our teams as settled as we can and try not to change arrangements without warning and explanation. Working across a rural county means reliability has to be planned rather than promised, and we would rather be honest about what we can cover than commit to more than we can keep to. Our staff are trained for the needs they are asked to meet and have senior colleagues they can reach. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall. If you are looking for support of this kind, please get in touch and we will be honest about what we can offer.
