About Baines Care

Baines Care provides care and support to people in their own homes in Chatham and across the Medway area. We work with older people, younger adults and people living with dementia. Our starting point is that the person we visit is in charge. It is their home, their routine and their decision how support happens. We are there to make something possible that has become difficult, not to reorganise a life that is working well in most other respects. Support begins with a visit and a proper conversation about what is genuinely hard, which is often not what families assume. From that we agree a plan with the person, involving family or an advocate if they want that, and we revise it when circumstances change rather than at fixed review dates. Visits can cover personal care, medication, meals and drinks, housework, shopping, getting to appointments, and company for people who are on their own a good deal of the week. Where somebody is living with dementia we keep the same small team visiting, work at their pace and notice the gradual changes that matter. We think carefully about who visits whom, taking account of temperament and interests as well as the practical help needed, and we would rather take a little longer to get the match right than fill a slot quickly.
