About Us

We are Family's Best Friend, based in Morecambe, and we provide care and support in people's own homes across this part of Lancashire. We support older people, adults with learning disabilities and autistic people, people with physical disabilities, people living with sight or hearing loss, and younger adults.

Our name is about the position we try to occupy. Not a stranger passing through, and not a replacement for family, but somebody dependable who knows the household and turns up when they said they would. That is why we work so hard at consistency: the same staff wherever the rota allows, routines that hold, and changes explained in advance rather than sprung on people.

Support is agreed with the person before it starts. We ask how the day runs now, what has become difficult, what they still want to manage themselves, and where a hand would genuinely help. In practice that might mean personal care, a prompt and a check with medication, meals, help getting safely about, shopping and appointments, or support to get out to work, college and the community.

For autistic people, predictability is a need rather than a preference, and we take sensory comfort seriously for the same reason. For people living with sight or hearing loss, unhurried communication makes most of the difference.
