About Big Blue Door

Big Blue Door supports adults in their own homes in Accrington and the surrounding parts of Lancashire. Much of our work is with adults with a learning disability, autistic adults, people with mental health needs and people living with a physical disability, and many of those we support are younger adults. What support looks like depends entirely on the person. For one it may be help with cooking, shopping, laundry, bills and appointments. For someone else the important part is staff who understand how they communicate, what they find overwhelming and how they like the day to be ordered. We spend time getting to know a person before making plans, and we involve the people who know them best. Routines are respected, and when something has to change we explain it properly.
