Company is a perfectly legitimate reason for us to be there and we treat it as such, because a visit where somebody sits down and talks properly is worth a great deal more than one that is over in five minutes. Continuity is what makes home care work. Being helped to wash by somebody you have never met is genuinely difficult, and for anybody living with dementia an unfamiliar face can unsettle an entire morning, so we keep the team around each person small and give notice when a change is unavoidable. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. What sits behind it is unglamorous: arriving when we said we would, sending people who already know you, and training our care workers properly before they start.
