About Us

Wishes Care and Support Yorkshire provides care and support to people in their own homes across Hull. We work with older people, including many living with dementia, and with adults of any age who have a learning disability or autism, a mental health condition, a physical disability, or a visual or hearing impairment. We also support people living with an eating disorder, and younger adults who want help to live more independently.

Most people would rather stay where they are, with their own things around them and their own routines intact, and our job is to make that workable for as long as it sensibly can be. We start by asking what is genuinely hard and what somebody still manages perfectly well, because good support builds on what is already there rather than taking over.

Visits can cover help with washing and dressing, prompting and support with medication, preparing meals and drinks, moving safely about the home, laundry, shopping and getting to appointments. Where the aim is building independence, we support people to do things for themselves even when that takes considerably longer.

Where support touches on sensitive ground, such as eating, we work carefully and without judgement, alongside the health professionals already involved.

We agree timings and keep to them, and we aim to send the same familiar faces to each household. Plans are reviewed honestly when circumstances change.

If you are considering support in Hull, please get in touch and we will talk it through.
