About Us
We are HICA Homecare in Hull, a home care agency supporting adults across the city. We provide care and support in people's own homes.
The range of people we work with is wide. Older people and people living with dementia, adults with learning disabilities or autism, people living with mental health conditions, people with physical disabilities or a visual or hearing impairment, younger adults, people managing an eating disorder, and people whose lives have been affected by alcohol or drug misuse. Those are genuinely different kinds of work and we would rather say so than claim one approach covers them all. What they share is that the plan gets built with the person rather than handed to them.
In practice our visits might cover personal care, support with medication, meals, help around the house, getting out, and company. Some people need a brief call once a day and others need us several times.
Continuity matters more than almost anything else in this work, particularly where trust has taken a while to build. So we try to keep the same small group of workers going to the same person, and we keep to the times we have agreed.
Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please get in touch if you would like to talk about support at home in Hull.
