DCA Kent supports people in their own homes in Margate and across the surrounding area. We are a home care agency, so our support comes to you, and it is built around keeping people living in their own place on their own terms. Much of our work is with adults who have a learning disability and with autistic adults, and with people who have physical disabilities. A good number of the people we support are younger adults, and that matters to how we work. Someone in their twenties or thirties is not looking to be looked after, they are looking for the support that makes an independent life possible, whether that is help with personal care, getting out to work or college, managing a household, or being backed up while they do things for themselves. We take time at the start to understand how a person communicates and what they want their week to look like, and we would rather build the support round that than hand over a standard package. We keep consistent teams so that people are not endlessly explaining themselves to someone new. We are registered with the Care Quality Commission and have not yet been given an overall rating.
