About Helping Hands

Helping Hands Maidstone provides care at home across Maidstone and the surrounding parts of Kent. We support older adults and younger adults, people living with dementia, people with a learning disability and autistic adults, adults with mental health conditions, and those with a physical disability. Our work happens in people's own homes, which is where nearly everybody would rather be. It ranges from a short call in the morning to several visits a day, and covers personal care, help with medication, meals, keeping the house in order, getting out and about, and company for people who would otherwise see nobody. Because this work takes place in somebody's private space, often at moments when they feel exposed, how it is done matters as much as what is done. Knocking and waiting. Explaining before acting. Protecting privacy during personal care as a matter of course rather than when reminded. Speaking to the person rather than over their head to whoever else is in the room. We keep the same care workers going to the same households wherever we can, because familiarity is what allows somebody to notice that today is not like yesterday. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is Good. If you are looking into care at home in this area, get in touch and we will talk it through honestly, including telling you if we are not the right fit.
