About Us
We support people living with dementia, and the families around them, in their own homes across Gravesend and this part of Kent. A diagnosis changes a great deal, but it does not have to mean leaving the house and the routines that somebody has built up over a lifetime, and our work is about making it possible to stay.
Most of the people we visit are older. We help with personal care, meals, medication and the practical business of the day, and we also support people with a physical disability, assisting with moving about safely and with tasks that have become difficult to manage alone.
With dementia, we have found that the useful things are consistent rather than clever. The same carers, arriving at times that make sense to the person, who know where things are kept and which chair is the right one. Familiarity prevents a great deal of distress that cannot easily be undone afterwards. We also know that families need support of their own, and we try to be honest and available when someone needs to talk through what is happening.
Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We keep asking the people we visit and their relatives what could be better.
If you would like to talk things through, please get in touch.
