Our carers visit people in their own homes at agreed times, providing the support that makes staying at home a realistic option rather than a hopeful one. What we do depends entirely on the person. It might be a short call each morning to help somebody get washed, dressed and started properly. It might be several visits through the day covering medication, meals, household tasks and getting out. For some people it is longer support where company counts for as much as the practical help. Care plans are agreed with the person receiving care and, where they want it, with their family. They are reviewed as circumstances change, and anything that concerns us during a visit is raised promptly with whoever needs to know. We keep our visiting teams settled wherever we can, because familiar carers notice early when somebody is not their usual self.
