About Asisters
We are Asisters, a home care agency supporting adults in Winchester and the surrounding part of Hampshire. We visit people in their own homes, helping with what has become difficult and leaving alone what they manage perfectly well. We support people living with dementia, people living with mental health conditions, people with physical disabilities, and people with a visual or hearing impairment. The work is practical: washing and dressing, support with medication, meals prepared properly, shopping, housework, and a hand getting out of the house. For some people that is one call a day and for others it is several. We work on the basis that this is somebody's home and their way of doing things comes first. We ask how they like things done, we agree times that suit them, and we keep to those times, because a late call is no small matter when somebody is waiting to get up or needs their tablets. Wherever the rota allows we send the same small group of workers, since a familiar face is easier to let in. We have not yet received an overall rating from the Care Quality Commission. Until we have, please test us with direct questions about recruitment, training, supervision and who answers the phone out of hours.
