About Us

Blue Angel Care is a home care agency supporting people in their own homes in Waterlooville and the surrounding parts of Hampshire. We work with older people, including many living with dementia, with adults who have a learning disability or who are autistic, with people who have physical disabilities or a visual or hearing impairment, and with younger adults who need support to live the life they want.

Our aim is straightforward. We want people to stay in their own home, with their own routine and their own things around them, for as long as that is what they want. Visits might cover help to get up or settle at night, personal care, medicines, meals and drinks, keeping on top of the house, or getting out to see people and keep appointments.

We try hard to send the same familiar faces. A carer who knows how someone takes their tea, and who notices when they are not quite themselves, gives a far better standard of care than a stranger working from notes, so continuity shapes how we build our rotas.

Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good.

We agree each plan with the person and with family where they want that, and we change it when needs change. If you would like to talk through what support might look like, please get in touch.

More about the care at Blue Angel Care Limited

What each type of care involves, and the questions worth asking when you call or visit.

Older Person Care

Day to day support at home for an older person usually covers help with washing and dressing, prompting or administering medication, preparing meals and drinks, and simple companionship over a cup of tea. Blue Angel Care is registered with the CQC for older person care and holds a good rating from its May 2023 inspection. Families weighing up an agency should ask how visits are timed if a relative is slower in the morning, whether the same small team of carers covers each round, and what happens if a regular carer is off sick. It is also worth asking whether night calls or a settling visit can be arranged, and how the agency responds if someone is found unwell between visits. Indicative home care rates across the South East sit between £29 and £35 an hour, with Hampshire County Council funded packages usually paid at a lower agreed rate.

Dementia

Living well with dementia at home often depends on keeping familiar surroundings, a steady daily rhythm and a small number of carers who learn how the person likes things done. Blue Angel Care is registered for dementia support and its own description notes that many of the older people it visits are living with the condition. Because the agency has not claimed its profile, families cannot see published detail on dementia specific training, so it is worth asking directly what preparation carers receive. Useful questions include how the team responds when someone is distressed or resistant to personal care, what they do if a person tries to leave the house at night, and how the plan is adjusted as memory and mobility change. Ask too how they communicate concerns to family and the GP.

Learning Disability / Autism

Person centred support for an adult with a learning disability or autism should be built around the individual's routines, communication style and sensory preferences, with a focus on keeping and building independence skills. Blue Angel Care is registered for this group. Packages are usually commissioned by Hampshire County Council after an assessment, with regular reviews. Ask how the agency matches carers, records outcomes and involves the person in planning.

Physical Disability

Support for adults with a physical disability at home usually covers personal care, transfers, help with equipment such as hoists or shower chairs, and practical assistance that keeps daily life moving. Blue Angel Care is registered for this care type. Because visits happen in the person's own house, families should check what moving and handling the carers are prepared to do, whether two carers can attend where needed, and how the agency works alongside occupational therapy recommendations.

Visual / Hearing Impairment

Practical support for someone with sight or hearing loss often comes down to small habits, such as announcing arrival clearly, keeping belongings in the same place, making sure hearing aids are in and working, and using good lighting. Blue Angel Care is registered to support people with a visual or hearing impairment. Ask how carers are briefed on a person's specific loss, how they communicate during personal care, and how they liaise with sensory services in Hampshire.

Younger Adults

An adult under 65 receiving home care often wants support that fits around work, study, relationships or hobbies rather than a fixed care routine designed for later life. Blue Angel Care is registered to support younger adults alongside older clients. Families should ask how visit times flex around the person's own week, how goals are recorded, and how the carer team is chosen to suit someone at a different life stage.
