About Smarta Services

Smarta provides care and support at home in Southampton and across Hampshire. We work with older people, adults living with dementia, people with mental health needs and people with physical disabilities. Care at home works best when it is built around the household rather than around the provider, so that is where we start. Before anything begins we sit down with the person, and with family if they want them there, and work out what would actually help, what they would rather keep doing themselves and how they like things done in their own home. Some people want brisk and efficient visits and nothing more; others want somebody who will make a cup of tea and talk for ten minutes. Both are reasonable and we plan accordingly. Support can cover personal care, medication, meals, mobility, shopping and keeping the house as somebody likes it, and it can range from a single short call to a package covering most of the day. For people living with dementia we keep the team small and the timings steady, and we take time to learn the person's history so that we can respond well when things are difficult. Where we support people with mental health needs we work in step with the community teams involved and aim to be the predictable part of the week.
