We are First4Homecare, and we support adults in their own homes in Gloucester and across Gloucestershire. Our visits range from a single short call each day through to several hours of support, arranged to fit the person's routine rather than our convenience. We help older people with washing and dressing, medication, meals, shopping and the household jobs that become harder with time. We support adults living with dementia, where familiar faces arriving at predictable times achieve more than any amount of technique. We also support people living with mental ill health, where a routine that holds and a dependable presence can matter as much as any clinical input, people with physical disabilities, taking care over equipment and how somebody prefers to be assisted, and people living with sight or hearing loss. Some of those we support are younger adults working towards greater independence. Everything starts with a visit and a proper conversation at home, with family or an advocate present if that is wanted. The plan is written with the person, records what matters to them and not only which tasks need doing, and is reviewed honestly. If a visit is going to be late we ring and say so.
