We have kept our focus narrow on purpose. With dementia, continuity is not a nice extra. It is the thing that makes a visit work at all. A carer the person recognises, arriving at roughly the time they expect, who already knows how they take their tea and what helps when they are anxious, achieves far more in half an hour than a stranger could in twice that. We plan rotas around this rather than treating it as a bonus. We keep families informed and raise concerns early, whether that is weight loss, a sore area or somebody becoming low in themselves.
