About Windrush Care

Windrush Care provides home care in Cheltenham and across Gloucestershire. We support older people, people living with dementia and younger adults in their own homes, for as long as home is where somebody wants to be. Good home care is made up of small dependable things. Coming at the time we said. Knowing how somebody likes their tea and that the back door sticks. Noticing three days of unopened post. None of that appears in a care plan and all of it is the difference between a service being delivered and somebody actually being looked after. The practical help ranges widely: washing and dressing, medication, meals, getting up in the morning and settled at night, keeping the house in order, shopping, appointments, and getting out of the house. For people living with dementia we work hard at consistency, sending familiar carers at familiar times and following the routines that already work in that household rather than tidying them up. We also think of ourselves as support for the family. Relatives doing most of the caring often need somebody straightforward to talk to about what is likely to come next, and we try to be that as much as we are a rota of visits. At our most recent inspection the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall. We are glad of it and we keep asking the households we visit what needs to change.
