About Farecare

Farecare Gloucestershire provides support at home to adults in Cheltenham and across the county. We visit older people who need help to carry on living in their own houses, adults living with dementia and younger adults who need support to live independently. Our visits cover personal care given without rushing, prompting and support with medication, preparing meals, help with laundry, shopping and keeping the home in order, and getting out to appointments or simply out for some air and company. For people living with dementia, staying at home is often the one thing keeping them settled, and that makes continuity essential rather than merely desirable. The same carers arriving at the same times will do more good than anything else we could offer, so we plan rotas around that rather than around convenience. Working across a town and a lot of surrounding countryside means distances are real and public transport is thin. People here can become isolated long before they become unwell, so getting somebody out and keeping them connected is often as valuable as any task on the list. We are guests in the homes we work in, and our staff are expected to behave that way and to be straight with us when something has changed. Please get in touch if you are arranging care at home locally.
