About Us

39 Wick Farm Road provides support to people living in their own homes in Southminster and the surrounding part of Essex. We work with older people, adults living with dementia, adults with learning disabilities, autistic adults and people with physical disabilities.

Most of our work is about enabling rather than doing. The people we support have their own homes, their own routines and their own plans, and our part is to help make those workable rather than to take charge of them. That might mean support with cooking, shopping and managing money, help getting to appointments, company on a trip out, or personal care and help with medication where that is what somebody needs.

With autistic people in particular we pay close attention to routine, to giving proper warning before anything changes and to the sensory side of somebody's environment, because those details often decide whether a day works. For people living with dementia, familiarity does most of the work, so we keep the same small team going in at consistent times. Where somebody has a physical disability we learn how their equipment is used and how they prefer to be helped to move, and we follow their way of doing it.
