Amor Social Care provides support in people's own homes in Brentwood and across Essex. We work with older people, adults living with dementia, people with mental health needs, people with physical disabilities, people with visual or hearing impairment and younger adults.

Care at home only works when it is built around the household rather than around the provider, so that is where we start. Before anything begins we sit down with the person, and with family if they want them there, and work out what would actually help, what they would rather keep doing themselves and how they like things done in their own home. Some people want brisk and efficient visits and nothing else; others want somebody who will make a cup of tea and talk for ten minutes. Both are reasonable and we plan accordingly.

From there we build a small, settled team, because a familiar face at the door changes the whole feel of a visit. For people living with dementia that consistency is the most useful thing we can offer.

Where somebody has a sensory impairment we adapt how we communicate and take care to leave the home exactly as they expect to find it. Where we support people with mental health needs we work in step with the community teams involved and aim to be the dependable part of the week.
