About Us

At Sirius Homecare, we support people in Hull and the East Riding of Yorkshire to live comfortably and independently in their own homes. We know how much home means to people, and our aim is to make sure that choosing care does not mean giving up the life you are used to.

We work with a wide range of individuals, including older people, younger adults, and those living with dementia, mental health conditions, physical disabilities, or visual and hearing impairments. Every person we support has different needs and different priorities, so we take the time to understand what matters most to each individual before we do anything else. Care is not one size fits all, and we do not treat it as such.

Our team is trained to provide the kind of support that genuinely makes a difference day to day, whether that is help with personal care and medication, assistance around the home, or simply being a familiar and friendly face. We believe good care is built on trust, consistency and honest communication, both with the people we support and with their families.

We are proud that our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission resulted in a rating of Good. That outcome reflects the effort our team puts in every single day, and it gives the people who come to us, and their loved ones, some reassurance that they are in safe hands.

If you are considering care for yourself or someone close to you, we would encourage you to get in touch. We are happy to talk things through, answer any questions you might have, and help you work out whether we are the right fit. There is no pressure and no obligation, just a straightforward conversation about how we might be able to help.

More about the care at Sirius Homecare

What each type of care involves, and the questions worth asking when you call or visit.

Older Person Care

Everyday support for older people at home usually covers help with washing, dressing, continence care, prompting or administering medication, preparing meals and offering companionship during what can otherwise be long, quiet days. Sirius Homecare is registered with the CQC to provide this kind of personal care across Hull and the wider East Riding. Indicative private rates in Yorkshire and Humberside sit at around £25 to £30 an hour, though East Riding of Yorkshire Council commissions at its own agreed rate for eligible people. Families weighing up an agency should ask how visit rotas are built, whether the same small group of workers attends each week, how medication errors are recorded, and what cover is available for early mornings, evenings and overnight calls if needs change.

Dementia

Living well with dementia at home relies on familiar surroundings, predictable routines, calm communication and workers who recognise when confusion or agitation is being driven by pain, thirst or a change in medication. Sirius Homecare is registered to support people with dementia in their own homes across the Hull area. Because the agency has not claimed its CareAssura profile, families cannot see specific detail on training here, so it is worth asking directly what dementia awareness the workforce has completed. Useful questions include how they respond to distress or refusal of care, what they do if someone tries to leave the house unsafely, how they keep the same faces coming through the door, and how the plan is adjusted as needs progress. Indicative regional rates are £25 to £30 per hour.

Mental Health

Adults living with a mental health condition often benefit most from consistent visit times, the same workers arriving each week and support that respects privacy. Sirius Homecare is registered with the CQC for this area of care. Ask what mental health experience the workforce holds, how they coordinate with GPs or community teams, and what steps are taken if someone becomes acutely unwell between visits.

Physical Disability

Support for someone with a physical disability at home can include help with transfers, personal care, medication, meals and getting out into the community, while promoting as much independence as possible. Sirius Homecare is registered for this type of care. Ask whether workers are comfortable using hoists, slide sheets or other equipment already in the property, and how they liaise with occupational therapists when new adaptations are recommended.

Visual / Hearing Impairment

Small habits matter when someone lives with sight or hearing loss, such as announcing arrival clearly, facing the person when speaking, keeping walkways uncluttered and never moving belongings without saying so. Sirius Homecare is registered to support people with sensory impairments in their own homes. Families should ask how workers communicate with someone who lipreads or uses a hearing aid, and how written care notes are shared accessibly.

Younger Adults

Adults under 65 receiving support at home often want help that fits around work, study, family life or hobbies rather than a routine designed for much older clients. Sirius Homecare is registered to provide personal care for younger adults across the Hull area. Ask how visit times flex around a working week, and whether workers are comfortable supporting someone into the community as well as around the house.
