About Us

Stonham Albion House provides support to people in and around Driffield, working with adults who have a learning disability or autism, people managing a mental health condition, people with a physical disability, people living with a visual or hearing impairment, and younger adults.

Our work is about making somebody's own life workable rather than managing it for them. We begin with what a person wants to be able to do, then provide the support that makes it realistic and no more than that. For one person that may be help with cooking, budgeting, appointments and getting about locally. For another it may be personal care and practical assistance so that the rest of the day becomes possible. For another it may be someone steady to think things through with.

Mental health support in particular needs planning done in advance and in partnership. We agree with the person what helps when things become difficult, what does not, and who they would want contacted, and we try to notice a change early rather than after it has taken hold.

We adapt to how each person communicates, give notice before things change, and keep support predictable.
