About Options Care
Options Care provides support at home for people in Thornton Heath and across Croydon. We work with adults who have a learning disability or autism and with people managing mental health conditions, including younger adults, supporting them in their own homes and out in their own communities. Our purpose is to make ordinary life workable rather than to run anybody's life for them. For some people that means help with personal care and daily routines. For others it means doing a weekly shop and cooking properly instead of relying on ready meals, keeping on top of bills and appointments, getting to a job or a course, or carrying on with something they have always done. We are careful about the line between supporting a person and taking over, because that line is easily crossed by staff who are in a hurry to be helpful. We pay close attention to how people communicate, which is not always through words, and we take the time needed to get it right rather than assuming. Plans are written with the person, reviewed honestly and changed when they stop fitting. We also work alongside families and with social work and mental health colleagues, since joined up support is what tends to last. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We keep examining our own practice, particularly around choice and independence. If you would like to talk about support for yourself or someone in your family, we are happy to meet and explain how we work.
