Plans are written with them, in language they can use, involving family or an advocate if they want that, and revised as things change. We keep the team around each person small and we introduce new support workers properly. For autistic people this matters more than anything, along with giving notice of change well in advance and paying attention to sensory needs. Where somebody communicates through signing, pictures or objects, our staff learn their way of doing it. Support can cover personal care, medication, meals, help around the house and with money and correspondence, getting out, and simply having company.
