About Highlea Care

Highlea Care supports people across Shildon and the surrounding part of County Durham in their own homes. Our work covers a wide range of needs, and we plan each person's support around their own routines rather than around a standard schedule. We support older people with the everyday tasks that have become harder, and people living with dementia, where a familiar carer and a calm pace matter more than anything on paper. We work with adults who have a learning disability and with autistic adults, people managing mental health conditions, people living with a physical disability and people with sight or hearing loss. We also support younger adults, whose expectations of care are usually rather different from the standard picture. Being properly known is what makes this work. A carer who knows a person well notices the flat mood or the untouched meal that turns out to be the first sign of something, and that is how problems get caught early. We have not yet received an overall rating from the Care Quality Commission, and we would rather state that plainly. Until we do, judge us on whether visits happen as agreed and whether we give you straight answers.
