About Helping Hands
Helping Hands Durham provides care and support to people in their own homes in Durham and across the county. We work with older people and people living with dementia, with adults who have a learning disability and with autistic adults, with people who have mental health needs, physical disabilities or a visual or hearing impairment, and with younger adults. Each package is planned around the person rather than offered from a list. Some people want a short call in the morning to help with washing, dressing and medication so the day starts safely. Others need support at several points, with meals, mobility, the laundry and the house, or help to get out to appointments, work and the people who matter. Covering a county with a lot of villages in it means being realistic about travel, so we plan rounds carefully, arrive when we said we would and telephone if we are held up. We visit before anything begins, agree the plan with the person and anyone they want present, write it in plain words and review it as needs change. Keeping the same carers going into the same homes is something we work at properly. At our most recent inspection the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall. Please contact us to arrange a visit.
