About Us

We support autistic adults and adults with learning disabilities in their own homes in Chester Le Street and across County Durham. Most of those we work with are younger adults.

We have kept our focus deliberately narrow, and we think that is worth saying plainly rather than presenting ourselves as able to do everything. Supporting autistic people well asks for a specific kind of patience and a specific kind of consistency, and we would rather be genuinely good at that than adequate across a much wider range.

Predictability is central to this. Being exactly where we said, at the time we said, doing what was agreed, matters more than almost anything else we could offer. Improvising is rarely helpful, and changes get explained well in advance rather than sprung on people.

We begin with what the person wants their life to look like rather than with a list of tasks. Our aim is to make it possible for somebody to do things themselves and then to step back: cooking, managing money, getting to a job or a course, travelling independently.

Our overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We would rather be judged on what the people we support say about us than on the rating.
