About Us

We are an extra care team based in Halifax, providing care and support to people living in their own flats and homes across Calderdale. We support older people, including many living with dementia, people living with mental ill health, people with physical disabilities, people living with sight or hearing loss, and younger adults.

Extra care suits people who want their own front door and their own tenancy but would rather not be entirely on their own with it. Support is on hand when it is needed, which for some people means a short call or two a day and for others means a good deal more, and it can be increased or reduced as circumstances change without anybody having to move.

Everything starts with a conversation with the person. How does the day run now? What has become difficult? What do you still want to do for yourself, and where would a hand genuinely help? From those answers we agree the support and review it as needs move.

In practice that might mean help with washing and dressing, a prompt and a check with medication, meals, help getting safely about, or a hand with shopping and appointments. Company matters too, and we would rather support somebody to get out and see people than leave them to a quiet flat.
