About Us

UK Supported Living is a home care agency based in Bournemouth, supporting people across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole. We work with adults in their own homes and in supported living settings so that they can live the life they choose with the practical help they need to make it work.

Much of our work is with adults who have a learning disability or who are autistic, and with people living with a mental health condition. We also support older people and younger adults with everyday care. Supported living is not about doing things for people. It is about doing things with them, and stepping back where someone can manage on their own, so support is built around goals as much as around tasks. That might mean cooking together, sorting out appointments and bills, getting to college or work, or simply having someone reliable there on the days that feel harder.

We take consistency seriously. People tell us that having the same small group of workers, who know their routines and their signals, matters more than almost anything else, so we plan rotas with that in mind.

Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good.

If you are looking for support for yourself or for a family member, please get in touch. We are happy to meet first, talk through what you want your week to look like, and be honest about whether we are the right fit.

More about the care at UK Supported Living Services

What each type of care involves, and the questions worth asking when you call or visit.

Older Person Care

Older people in Bournemouth who want to stay in their own home often need a mix of practical help and a familiar face at the door, and UK Supported Living Services is registered to provide that kind of home care. Typical tasks include help with washing and dressing, prompting or administering medication, preparing meals and offering companionship on quieter days. Home care in the South West is commonly charged at around £28 to £33 an hour, though the agency's own rates will depend on the call length and time of day. Families should ask how rotas are planned so that the same small group of workers visits regularly, how medication is recorded, and what happens if a call is running late. It is also worth asking whether night visits or waking support can be arranged, and how the agency communicates with GPs and district nurses.

Learning Disability / Autism

Adults with a learning disability or autistic adults are a core group that UK Supported Living Services is registered to work with, and support is generally shaped around each person's goals, routines and sensory preferences. In practice this can mean cooking together, managing bills, travelling to activities and building independence step by step. Packages are usually commissioned by the local authority or health team and reviewed regularly. Ask how communication needs and sensory triggers are recorded and shared between workers.

Mental Health

For adults living with a mental health condition, keeping to a familiar routine, protecting dignity and having reliable people turn up as planned can make a real difference to stability. The agency is registered to support this group across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole. Ask what experience workers have with specific diagnoses, how they respond when someone is becoming unwell, and how they liaise with community mental health teams or crisis services out of hours.

Younger Adults

Younger adults under 65 often want support that fits around work, college, friendships and hobbies rather than a purely task based routine, and this is something the service is registered to provide. The About Us text describes supporting people to live the life they choose, including help getting to college or work. Families should ask how age appropriate activities and peer contact are factored into a plan, and how choice and privacy are protected.
