About Us
AQS Homecare Dorset supports people in their own homes across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole. We take on a wider range of need than many agencies. Most of our work is with older adults, a good number living with dementia. We also support younger adults, people with a learning disability, autistic people, people managing a mental health condition, people with a physical disability, and people who are blind, partially sighted, deaf or hard of hearing. We take on work involving eating disorders and work involving alcohol or drugs, both of which are often declined elsewhere. Being willing to take that work means being careful about who we send. Supporting somebody alongside a drink or drug problem, or alongside an eating disorder, asks for steadiness rather than opinion, a willingness to come back after a difficult week, and the judgement to know when a situation needs somebody with different training. We recruit and supervise with that in mind, and we are honest about the limits of what we can do. The practical help is the same across all of it. Washing and dressing, medicines, meals, shopping, housework, appointments, getting out, and someone keeping a quiet eye on how a person is doing. Our overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Ring us and we will come out and talk it through properly.
