About Helping Hands
Helping Hands Sutton Coldfield provides care at home for people across Sutton Coldfield and the north of Birmingham. We support older people, adults living with dementia, people with learning disabilities and autistic adults, those with physical disabilities or sensory loss, and younger adults. Almost everyone who contacts us wants the same thing, which is to stay at home. Our part is making that practical and safe for as long as it reasonably can be. Sometimes that is a short morning visit for help with washing, dressing and medicines. Sometimes it becomes several calls a day, or longer periods of support where somebody should not be left alone for long. We would rather build up gradually as needs change than wait for a fall or a hospital admission to force everyone's hand. Familiar faces are the foundation. When a care worker has been visiting a household for months, they know what that person is like ordinarily, and that is what makes it possible to flag a change while it is still a small thing rather than a crisis. Before anything starts we go through it properly, including the parts people find awkward to discuss, and we revisit the plan honestly as circumstances shift. The Care Quality Commission rated us good at our most recent inspection. Give us a ring and we will tell you plainly what we can offer and when we could start.
