About The Mead

The Mead is a residential care home in Warminster, Wiltshire, supporting adults who are managing mental health conditions. We also offer respite stays for people who need somewhere settled for a shorter period. Our approach is built on steadiness and respect. Many of the people who come to us have had unsettled periods and a good number of moves, so the first thing we try to offer is somewhere calm where nothing changes without warning and where they are treated as an adult making their own decisions. People have their own rooms and their own routines, and they have a real say in how their days go. Support is agreed with each person rather than imposed. For some that means working towards managing more independently, perhaps around cooking, money, appointments or getting back into work or study. For others it means reliable support that simply holds steady. Both are entirely legitimate, and we try not to push people towards goals that are ours rather than theirs. We work closely with community mental health colleagues, social workers and families, because support that everybody has agreed on is the support that tends to last. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We keep examining the things that slip quietly in any home, particularly privacy, choice and the way concerns are handled. If you are considering a place with us, please come and visit, meet the people who live here and ask us whatever you need to know.
