About Us
Shaftesbury Court is a residential care home in Trowbridge, Wiltshire. We support adults with learning disabilities, autistic adults, people with physical disabilities and older people, including younger adults, and we offer both permanent places and respite stays. Supporting that range of people well means being specific rather than general. Where somebody has a physical disability, we put real effort into the practical detail, because equipment, hoists, transfers, seating and access are what decide whether a person can get where they want to go and do things for themselves. Where somebody has a learning disability or is autistic, we concentrate on predictable routines, clear information given in good time, and understanding how that individual communicates, whether that is through speech, signs, symbols, a device or their behaviour. For an older resident it may simply mean unhurried help with personal care and somebody nearby at night. Beyond that, this is somebody's home. People choose how their rooms look, have a real say in the shopping and the meals, and decide how their week is spent, with support to get out to whatever interests them. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Families and professionals are welcome to visit.
