About 56 Sycamore Grove

56 Sycamore Grove is a small residential care home in Trowbridge, Wiltshire, supporting adults with learning disabilities and autistic people, including both younger adults and older residents. This is a house on an ordinary street and we try to let it behave like one. The people who live here have a say in how the household is run, join in with the shopping, the cooking and the choosing, and come and go in the local area as they would from any other home. We are a small team, which means familiar faces and the kind of knowledge of a person that cannot be written into a plan. Support is built around what each resident wants their life to include rather than around a standard routine. For some that means learning to manage parts of the day independently, for others it is keeping a long established routine exactly as it is. Both are legitimate, and we do not push people towards goals that are really ours. We adapt to how each person communicates, including residents who use little or no speech, and for autistic residents we pay close attention to sensory comfort and to warning people well in advance of any change. We work closely with families, advocates and community teams, and we treat this as the residents' home first. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission was good. Do get in touch if you would like to visit.
