About Woodstock House

We are Woodstock House, a residential care home in Salisbury, Wiltshire. We support older people and younger adults, including people living with a mental health condition, and we offer both permanent places and respite stays. Living with a mental health condition does not stop being part of someone's life when they move into residential care, and a good placement makes room for that. Some weeks are steadier than others. What helps is a settled environment, staff who do not take a bad day personally, and a routine that is there to lean on rather than to enforce. We work with community mental health teams, GPs and social workers so that support outside the home and support inside it are actually joined up. People here run their own lives as far as they are able and wish to. When to get up, what to eat, how to spend the day, who to see and what to do about their own care and treatment are theirs to decide. Where a decision needs support, we give support rather than substituting our judgement for theirs. Respite stays are useful when a carer needs a break or when someone would benefit from a period of steadier support before returning home. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good.
