About Us
We are the St Margaret's Gardens home in Melksham, Wiltshire, part of the Ordinary Life Project Association. We support adults with learning disabilities, autistic adults, people managing mental health conditions and people with physical disabilities, along with older people who need help with daily living.
The name of our organisation says what we are aiming at. People here should have an ordinary life, which means choosing how they spend their days, taking part in cooking, shopping and looking after the house if they want to, keeping their own routines and seeing the people who matter to them. Support is agreed with each person, written so that they can understand and check it, and reviewed with them.
Most of what makes support work is attention to detail. We learn how somebody communicates, what they enjoy, what unsettles them and what helps on a hard day. For autistic residents we take particular care over predictability, quiet space and clear information about what comes next.
Respite stays are available so that families can take a planned break.
Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement. We would rather raise that ourselves. We know which areas were identified, we have a plan for putting them right and we are working through it. Please ask us about it directly when you visit.
