About Us
White Pearl is a residential care home in Worthing, West Sussex. We are home to older adults and to younger adults, and we support people managing mental health conditions. We also offer respite stays, which can be a planned break for a family carer or a short period of support while somebody finds their feet.
Having a mix of ages under one roof shapes the place. It means we cannot run a single programme and call it activities, because what a person in their forties wants from a Tuesday afternoon is rarely what somebody forty years older wants. So we ask individually, and we accept that a good day for one resident is company and noise while for another it is being left alone with the radio.
We take the ordinary business of a household seriously. Food, warmth, clean laundry, being spoken to as an adult, having a say in what happens. Where somebody can do something for themselves we support them to keep doing it, even when it would be quicker for us to step in.
The Care Quality Commission rates us good overall. We would rather be told quickly when something is not right than be praised in general terms, and we make a point of asking residents and relatives directly.
