About Us

Here at Manorfield Residential Home, we provide care and support for older adults, people living with dementia, and younger adults in the heart of Chichester, West Sussex. We are a residential care home and we take genuine pride in making this a place where people feel at home, not just cared for.

We understand that choosing a care home is one of the most significant decisions a family can face. That is why we work hard to ensure that from the very first conversation, you feel heard and supported. We take time to get to know each person who comes to live with us, understanding their history, their preferences, and what matters most to them day to day.

Our team supports people with a range of needs, including residential care for older people and specialist support for those living with dementia. We also welcome younger adults who require residential care, and we work hard to ensure that every individual receives support that reflects who they are, not just a list of needs on a form.

We were pleased to receive a rating of "Good" from the Care Quality Commission following our most recent inspection. We see this as recognition of the everyday effort our team puts in, though we are always looking at how we can improve and do better for the people in our care.

Life at Manorfield is shaped by the people who live here. We encourage independence where possible, support meaningful activity, and ensure that friends and family are always welcome. Chichester is a wonderful place to be based, and we enjoy being part of the local community.

If you would like to find out more about what we offer or arrange a visit, we would be very happy to hear from you.

More about the care at Manorfield Residential Home

What each type of care involves, and the questions worth asking when you call or visit.

Older Person Care

Support for older residents at Manorfield Residential Home generally covers help with washing and dressing, prompting or administering medication, mobility around the home, meals and the quieter side of companionship through the day. Families weighing up this option should ask how morning and evening routines are organised, whether residents can rise and retire at times that suit them, and what the staffing pattern looks like overnight when the home is quiet. It is also worth asking how care plans are reviewed as needs change, and how the team keeps GPs, district nurses and relatives in the loop. Weekly fees across the South East tend to sit between £1,100 and £1,450, while West Sussex County Council typically funds around £800 to £950, so any gap is a fair thing to raise early.

Dementia

Good dementia care usually rests on familiar routines, calm surroundings, a layout that feels safe to move around in, and staff who understand how memory loss, confusion and changes in mood actually present day to day. Manorfield Residential Home in Chichester is registered to support people living with dementia, and the Care Quality Commission rated the service Good at its February 2019 inspection. Families should ask how the team responds when someone becomes distressed or agitated, how they manage walking with purpose safely, and what happens if a resident stops sleeping at night or starts refusing food. It is also fair to ask how the home adapts support as dementia progresses, and at what point they would say needs had moved beyond what residential care can offer.

Younger Adults

Adults under 65 with care needs often want a life that still feels their own, with age appropriate interests, peers where possible and a say in daily choices. Manorfield Residential Home is registered to support younger adults alongside older residents, which makes it worth asking who else of a similar age currently lives there. Ask how the home helps younger residents keep up hobbies, friendships and links outside the building.

Respite Care

A short stay at Manorfield Residential Home can give a family carer a proper break or act as a trial before any permanent move. Book as far ahead as you can, as respite rooms go quickly around school holidays. Pack clothing, toiletries, medication in its original packaging, a list of GP and next of kin details, and a few familiar items. Ask about minimum stay length and the daily rate, which is often slightly higher than long term fees.

Residential Care

Everyday residential care is about the ordinary rhythm of life with a bit of help built in: cooked meals, laundry, housekeeping, personal care, social time and support with medication, without the clinical input of a registered nurse on site around the clock. Manorfield Residential Home is registered for residential rather than nursing care, which suits people whose health needs can be met by community district nurses and GPs visiting as required. If nursing tasks such as complex wound care, PEG feeding or ongoing clinical monitoring are needed, a nursing home is usually the better fit. Ask how the home works with local NHS services in Chichester when a resident's health changes, and how they decide whether needs can still be met here. Regional fees run roughly £1,100 to £1,450 a week.
