About Homewards - 48 Leonard Road

We are Homewards at 48 Leonard Road, a small residential care home in Waltham Forest, east London. We support adults with learning disabilities and autistic adults, and we also offer respite stays. Being small is the point. It means the people who live here are not managing a constant stream of strangers, that routines can be genuinely individual rather than run to the convenience of a large rota, and that staff know without being told when somebody is having a difficult day. We start from what each person wants their week to look like. That might include college or work, a regular swim, cooking their own meals, seeing family, or going out into London. Where somebody finds change or noise hard, we build a predictable rhythm and stick to it, and we prepare properly for anything out of the ordinary. The house is theirs, so decisions about food, decoration and how time is spent belong to the people living in it. Respite stays give families a proper break and can also be a gentle way of finding out whether this house suits someone before anything is decided. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We are used to detailed questions from families and commissioners alike and we welcome them. Please contact us if you would like to visit.
