About George Mason Lodge

We are a residential care home in Waltham Forest, providing a home for older people, including those living with dementia and those with a mental health condition. Our staff are here through the day and the night, and we work alongside GPs and community nurses so that health needs are handled promptly. We try to run the home at the pace of the people who live in it. Nobody is woken to suit a rota, meals are unhurried, and people can spend the day in company or on their own as they choose. Rooms belong to the person living in them, and we encourage people to bring furniture, pictures and the small possessions that make a room feel like theirs. Where somebody is living with dementia, we hold the day steady. Familiar faces, a predictable rhythm and unhurried conversation do far more good than any amount of correction, and when a person is distressed we sit with them rather than trying to talk them out of it. Families are welcome at any reasonable hour, and we keep in touch with them as a matter of course. Respite stays are offered as well as permanent places. Our most recent Care Quality Commission inspection rated the home Good. Please contact us if you would like to look round.
