About Us

Here at Ashwood House in Leyton, we provide residential care for adults living with mental health conditions, right in the heart of Waltham Forest. We are a care home that takes its responsibilities seriously, and we work hard every day to make sure the people who live with us feel genuinely at home.

Mental health can be a complex and deeply personal journey, and we understand that moving into a care home is a significant step. Our approach is built around getting to know each person properly, understanding their history, their preferences, and what matters most to them in daily life. We do not believe in a one size fits all model. Instead, we take the time to build real relationships with residents and their families, so that the support we offer actually fits the life each person wants to lead.

Our team brings a thoughtful, grounded approach to mental health care. We focus on creating an environment that feels calm, consistent and respectful, because we know how much the atmosphere of a place can affect a person's wellbeing. Routines matter, trust matters, and feeling listened to matters enormously.

We are pleased that our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated us as good, and we see that as recognition of the genuine effort our team puts in day after day. At the same time, we are always looking at how we can improve and do better for the people in our care.

If you are considering Ashwood House for yourself or someone close to you, we warmly encourage you to get in touch or come and visit. There is no better way to understand what we are about than to see it for yourself and have a proper conversation with us. We would love to hear from you.

More about the care at Ashwood House Limited (Leyton)

What each type of care involves, and the questions worth asking when you call or visit.

Mental Health

Adults living with enduring mental health conditions often do best where days feel predictable and staff know them well. Ashwood House is registered with the CQC for mental health support, which means it can accept adults whose primary need relates to their mental wellbeing. Worth asking about are the team's experience with specific diagnoses, how medication is overseen, and the arrangements for crisis situations or liaison with community mental health teams.

Respite Care

Planning a respite booking at Ashwood ahead of time helps, since rooms are not always free at short notice, especially over holidays. Most homes ask for a minimum stay of one or two weeks, and it helps to pack familiar clothing, toiletries, medication in its original packaging and any documents about care needs. A short stay can also serve as a gentle trial before considering a permanent move. Ask about assessment, fees and what a typical day looks like.

Residential Care

Everyday living support at Ashwood House in Leyton is what residential care is designed to cover, meaning help with meals, personal care, medication prompts, laundry and companionship, rather than the clinical input a nursing home would provide. The distinction matters because residents who need regular input from a registered nurse are usually placed elsewhere, whereas residential settings suit people whose main needs are social, practical and emotional. In Waltham Forest, weekly fees across London care homes typically sit between £1150 and £1500, while the council generally funds around £850 to £1000 for those eligible, so any gap is worth clarifying early. The home was rated good by the Care Quality Commission following its November 2023 inspection. Families should ask how daily routines are shaped, what activities are offered, and how residents are supported to keep in touch with the community.
