What the inspectors found

A plain English summary of the Care Quality Commission inspection behind the current rating of Dimensions 7 Huntley Close. Report published 12 March 2019.

  • 13 February 2019
  • 6 places, 6 people were using the service at the time

Safe

Inspectors found staff knew the risks each person faced and the actions to take to reduce them. There were enough staff, and people received the medicines they needed safely. Inspectors saw considerable wear and tear that did not affect safety but needed repair or replacement, and the registered manager was working to get the housing association to make the repairs.

Effective

Staff had induction training and then regular training, and they used it in practice. People's needs were regularly assessed, and there were detailed care plans to guide staff. People had access to health care services, had enough food and drink of their choice, and were supported to have choice and control in the least restrictive way possible.

Caring

Inspectors found staff were kind. Staff helped people to be involved in their own care as much as possible. People were treated with dignity and respect, and personal care was given in private. Families and friends were welcome to visit.

Responsive

Care was planned around each person's individual needs, wishes and preferences. There were many opportunities to enjoy activities inside and outside the home. End of life wishes were in care plans where they had been discussed, but inspectors said there was scope to include more information.

Well-led

Inspectors found a clear management structure and said staff had enough support. The registered manager also managed one of the provider's other services and divided their time between the two homes. Staff felt supported and valued. The registered manager and provider used a system to check quality and make improvements, and they worked with others, including health professionals.

What people told the inspectors

Relatives said they had regular contact with staff and managers. They were satisfied to discuss issues as they arose, and said these were responded to well.
