About Us
Moor House Residential Care Home is a care home in Staines upon Thames. We provide residential care for older people, including people living with dementia, we can support younger adults, and we offer respite stays alongside permanent places.
We try to run the home around the people in it rather than the other way round. Residents decide when to get up, where to spend their time and how much they want to join in. Rooms belong to the people in them, with their own furniture and photographs where they want them, and visitors are not confined to set hours.
Supporting somebody with dementia means knowing who they were long before we met them. A person's working life, their family, the things they did every day for forty years, all of that explains a great deal about what settles them now and what does not. Families fill in that picture for us and it changes how we respond to distress, to repeated questions and to the wish to be somewhere else.
Respite stays are there for carers who need a genuine break, and for people who want to try the home before committing to it.
Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good.
